About Em’s journey into massage

My journey started with Thai Massage. Learning in India after injuring myself practicing yoga and seeking a way to easy my body’s pain. This practice change my life direction sending me to Thailand where I have had the privilege to meet many teachers and masters.

Each encounter helped deepen my appreciation for the body and how important it is to be in contact with it’s needs. In many ways this journey has brought me healing of the sort I did not expect. It helped me face my own internal world and discover my sense of love for all. This is called Metta in Buddhist philosophy. It means loving kindness for all the world and those in it, and is a core principal of Thai Massage.

Practicing Thai Massage introduced me to other types of healing modalities and with time I have started to combine my knowledge to offer treatments that incorporates all that I have learned which is slowly developing into my very own massage style.

Currently I decided to start a university degree in Traditional Chinese medicine and will slowly start to incorporate the knowledge into my treatments. There is no end to learning, every new course brings a fresh perspective and deepens my ability to be present.

I hope to be able to share this passion with you and help you find a way to create ease in your body and reconnect with your mindbody in a way that feels authentic to you.

With love, Em

Chi Nei Tsang: Abdominal Massage

Chi Nei Tsang is an ancient Taoist abdominal massage that harmonizes the internal organs and restores balance to the body and mind. It is both a physical and energetic practice, addressing the "center" where emotions, immunity, and vital energy (Qi) converge.

From a modern perspective, the abdomen is central to health because:

  • 70–80% of the immune system resides in the gut (gut-associated lymphoid tissue, or GALT).

  • The gut produces a large portion of the body’s neurotransmitters, which regulate mood, cognition, and overall well-being.

  • The vagus nerve connects the digestive organs to the brain, offering a direct pathway to regulate the parasympathetic nervous system ("rest and digest" mode).

How It Works

By gently working with the abdomen, Chi Nei Tsang supports:

  • Nervous system reset: Helping the body move out of “fight or flight” and into a serene, restorative state.

  • Natural healing activation: When stress levels drop, the body’s innate repair processes are triggered, allowing tissues and organs to regenerate.

  • Improved circulation: Increased blood and nutrient flow to the organs strengthens immunity, enhances detoxification, and optimizes function.

Additional Benefits

Commonly reported in both traditional and modern contexts:

  • New Perspective: help shift thought patterns that keep people trapped in negative mental states such as depressions and burn out

  • Digestive relief: Reduces bloating, constipation, and sluggish digestion by stimulating peristalsis.

  • Detoxification: Supports lymphatic drainage and the release of metabolic waste.

  • Emotional release: Many people hold tension and unresolved feelings in the abdomen; this massage can gently unlock and process stored emotions.

  • Hormonal balance: By easing stress on the adrenal glands and supporting liver function, it helps stabilize stress and reproductive hormones.

  • Breathing improvement: Releasing tension around the diaphragm enhances lung capacity and oxygen exchange.

  • Posture and alignment: Abdominal release can improve spinal alignment and relieve tension in the lower back.

  • Energy flow (Qi): According to Taoist principles, Chi Nei Tsang unblocks stagnant energy in the abdomen, boosting vitality and resilience.

Neurotransmitters in the Gut and Their Role

The gut is often called the “second brain” because of its enteric nervous system and the abundance of neurotransmitters it produces:

  • Serotonin (~90–95% made in the gut): Regulates mood, sleep, and appetite. Low levels are linked to anxiety and depression.

  • Dopamine (~50% made in the gut): Influences motivation, pleasure, and reward pathways.

  • GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid): Calms the nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety.

  • Acetylcholine: Supports learning, memory, and healthy muscle contractions in the digestive tract.

Chi Nei Tsang can enhance neurotransmitter balance by:

  1. Reducing inflammation in the gut lining, which supports healthy microbial activity crucial for neurotransmitter production.

  2. Stimulating vagus nerve activity, improving communication between the gut and brain.

  3. Lowering stress hormones (like cortisol), which otherwise disrupt neurotransmitter synthesis and gut health.

Treatments

When coming with ongoing symptoms I suggest taking 3 treatments at week intervals, this will nudge the body onto a new equilibrium. It takes a few session for the body to learn new ways of being and depending on how long the symptoms have been manifesting it might take longer or shorter for effects to manifest.

I also offer postpartum care to help recovery after birth, in case of a vaginal births treatments can start after 6 weeks and in case of C sections its advised to wait 2 to 3 months.

Foot Massage:

Grounding the Body, Calming the Mind

Foot massage is an ancient healing art found across cultures — from Ayurvedic traditions and Chinese medicine to modern therapeutic massage. The feet are seen as mirrors of the whole body, holding reflex points that correspond to internal organs, energy pathways, and emotional centers.
By working with the feet, we support not only physical balance but also emotional grounding and nervous system harmony.

Happy feet, happy you:

  • They contain over 7,000 nerve endings, directly connected to the spinal cord and the rest of the body.

  • Support detoxification and tissue nourishment by stimulating its Rich circulation and lymphatic networks.

  • The mechanoreceptors and proprioceptors in the feet communicate constantly with the brain, helping regulate posture, balance, and stress responses.

How It Works

Foot massage supports:

  • Nervous system reset: Activates the parasympathetic “rest and digest” response, easing stress, tension, and mental fatigue.

  • Improved circulation: Encourages blood and lymph flow, aiding in detoxification, reducing swelling, and revitalizing tired legs and feet.

  • Pain and tension relief: Soothes muscles, fascia, and joints, especially for those who stand for long hours or experience chronic tension.

  • Grounding and reconnection: Working with the feet restores a sense of stability, presence, and energetic grounding — helping to “come back to oneself.”

Additional Benefits

Commonly reported in both traditional and modern contexts:

  • Stress reduction: Calms the mind, lowers cortisol, and promotes deep relaxation.

  • Better sleep: Encourages restfulness and helps regulate sleep cycles by balancing the nervous system.

  • Improved mobility: Enhances flexibility, balance, and posture by releasing tension in the feet, calves and back muscles

  • Circulatory health: Stimulates blood flow and assists lymphatic drainage, reducing heaviness and swelling.

  • Digestive and hormonal support: Through relaxation of the nervous system, the massage indirectly supports digestion and endocrine balance.

  • Emotional release: The feet hold subtle tension patterns linked to stress and life experiences; gentle touch can release emotional blockages and restore ease.

  • Foot awareness and care: Regular massage enhances body awareness, encourages mindful movement, and supports healthy foot mechanics.

The Nervous System and Emotional Regulation

The feet play a key role in communicating with the brain. Foot massages can:

  • Increase heart rate variability (HRV) — an indicator of nervous system flexibility and emotional resilience.

  • Reduce activity in the amygdala, the brain’s stress center, promoting calm and relaxation.

  • Encourage release of endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocin, supporting mood and emotional balance.

This makes foot massage a gentle yet powerful way to regulate stress, anxiety, and overwhelm — grounding the mind through the body.

Treatments

When addressing ongoing symptoms such as stress, fatigue, or tension, I recommend beginning with a series of 3 sessions spaced one week apart. This allows the body to learn new pathways of relaxation and restore its natural equilibrium.

After this I suggest maintenance sessions, once every month or so to sustain the benefits and deepen relaxation.

Traditional Thai Massage

Thai massage is an ancient healing practice that blends rhythmic pressure, assisted stretching, and mindful movement to restore harmony throughout the body. Rooted in Thai traditional medicine, Ayurveda, and Buddhist philosophy, it works with the body’s energy pathways — known as sen lines — to release blockages, ease tension, and support natural vitality.

From a modern perspective, Thai massage supports whole-body health because:

  • The nervous system responds strongly to slow, rhythmic touch, shifting the body into parasympathetic mode.

  • Stretching and compression techniques influence fascia, joints, and muscles, improving mobility and reducing pain.

  • The combination of movement, breath, and touch helps regulate emotional states and supports stress recovery.
